About Hubei

While Zhejiang is the original home of Dragon Well teas (also known as Long Jing) this everyday example comes from Hubei in Mao Ping Village where they follow traditional methods to make this more-ish, nutty tea. Located on the southern bank of the Yangtze River, the area experiences heavy rainfall in monsoon season, and hot summers, creating good conditions for growing crops like tea, and also cotton.

Cultivation

Standard Dragon Well is baked in hot ovens to halt oxidation before being traditionally pan-fired by hand in hot woks that flatten and toast the tea leaves giving them their iconic spear-like shape.
